My Teaching Philosophy

About me

How to develop critical thinking

One of the most enlightening lessons I grasped from my teachers happened to be that being capable to critically think is a crucial skill for everybody. This is an instrument which may be operated to succeed in a wide range of activities. I consider all college students must go out of their educational institution armed with the expertise to critically think. In this way, a cornerstone of my educating viewpoint and own mentor objectives is to aid students cultivate their critical thinking capabilities.

The most valuable step a mentor need to do in order to help trainees develop analytical thinking skill-set is to generate a good discovering environment by recognising and stimulating intellectual multiplicity. This not simply puts an instance for children to follow, however, that also allows students to talk about their feelings openly with other children and also the teacher.

Taking neutral stance as a way to develop critical thinking

Because scholars deliver a unique set of worldviews everywhere, I believe that it is the trainer's task to take neutral attitudes on questionable content, political issues, and typical public concerns too. Educators shall not pose themselves to learners as a blind advocate of a specific side, since supporting sides can carry harmful and inadvertent results on a trainee's learning practice. Having a bystanding viewpoint also performs to challenge trainees' mental potentials. It demands them to protect their viewpoints employing analytical thinking despite what side they have, and this also presents scholars to opinions which they may not have taken into consideration themselves. Ultimately, it provides students with a great learning surrounding where they need to apply common sense and explanation in order to develop stances and counter positions (i.e. critical thinking).

What I use at my lessons

The 2nd way of recognising and improving mental multiplicity is via delivering ideas in a wide array of formats, and to measure capability in a selection of conditions. Considering that students own unlike studying strategies/abilities, I consider educators must do their best to give data in a wide range of formats. In my lessons, I utilise lectures, posts, visional learning supplements, managed notes, graphs, and representations to present training content. While estimating students' competence, I utilise a variety of formats too. For each of my trainings, I check student potentials utilising original and official composing assignments, tests that contain multi choices, replace the dots, quick key, and also others. Each and every method provides for various sets of mental strengths while stimulating various groups of intellectual weaknesses.

A teacher is a life-long learner

The latter part of my educating ideology I wish to write about is my views towards self-perfection. I firmly consider that every good trainer stays an effective trainee during life. As a trainer, I constantly evaluate my productivities each time I train. That includes evaluating how well I presented the content, what scholars' responses to the material were, and generating ideas on how to make improvements upon my classes to keep trainee passion. I consider that making the effort to revise lessons, add updated material, and also upgrade lesson plans is something that all educators must definitely handle on a regular basis. But, self-awareness has the extents. Other necessary means I go on keep on to improve my abilities as a trainer include; consulting with skilled instructors and other lecturers for assistance, knowing current public problems, refreshing my knowledge of the theme being taught, and maybe the most significant tool is employing learner estimates in order to notify me of my weak spots.

However the secret to my theory hinges on the principle that I should initiate high standards for trainees and for myself. I need to guide by example for my learners like my advisors did for me.
